And the Republican budget bill only makes everything worse.
The latest Republican budget explodes the deficit and tanks the economy by shutting down programs that work to stuff the pockets of billionaires who don't. It traps people in poverty while lining the pockets of the wealthy who bought the Trump presidency.
But it makes virtually everyone worse off regardless of their income level. Everyone will have higher power bills, less efficient technology, and more money thrown away to wrongly deport people who are here legally - and most of these costs and losses will also hit small businesses, while those at the top will actually be given money. The cuts include billions taken away from the programs that work to improve life here in America but still explodes the deficit by putting even more tax dollars right into the pockets of the rich and politically connected.
Various parts of the generally illegal and unconstitutional Trump agenda - the tariffs, the corruption, the attacks on individual rights, the bullshit - will face challenges in court, many successful, but a lot of it is barreling toward law and political permanence. The MAGA stain on American history will take a long time to wash out. Even if the courts rule against this or that tariff, or this or that policy, the ugliness and stupidity of this era will be with us for a long time. It is never a bad time to tell your representative you are ready to see this stain scrubbed out - and to replace them if they do not share your enthusiasm.
Trump Always Chickens Out - but it sucks to have to rely on that.
Trump has backed down on the tariffs repeatedly. Most world leaders treat him like the joke that he is. His stupidity and bad ideas and weak moral fiber have made him the ideal opponent for the leaders of other nations, who have defeated his loser hangers-on around the globe and have played him for a fool at every turn. Watching the markets crash at his every idiotic utterance is capable of making him back down. But his brain is small and his soul is weak. Even if he realizes something is too stupid to say out loud one day, every day is a sputtering new start.
Its time to start telling people you're sick of this shit. What new bullshit awaits your bank account every day thanks to the insipid burbling of a doddering old man. What hell awaits law-abiding, hard-working human beings across this country who have done nothing wrong - the type of person Trump can't immediately relate to and therefore hates. You have friends and family who have been immiserated by Trump, who have been physically, economically, spiritually attacked by the collective whims of lesser people. Trump always chickens out, but he sure likes to fuck things up in the meantime. We all know the general unreliability and stupidity of the man is now basically priced into the market.
